To effectively address the starving artist stereotype and develop a working model of an
arts entrepreneurship program, conventional thinking would state that “arts technique alone is not enough” and that “incorporation of entrepreneurial techniques are necessary.” But what both traditional training modalities lack is a means by which one can mentally, emotionally and spiritually deal with the rigors of being an active arts entrepreneur and to increase the likelihood of persevering in the market. Course work in the mythic structure of the journey of the hero can serve as a core element of arts entrepreneurship training. Such training leads to the development of heroic arts entrepreneurs.
