Pia M. Orrenius, a Senior Fellow at the Tower Center, published a paper for the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas analyzing how Latinos fare during recessions and recoveries. Latinos tend to have more sensitive economic outcomes in the business cycles during these times versus non-Hispanic whites. The pandemic this past year has put a setback to Latinos progressing economically, but the paper gives insight into how immigration and education reform could help Latinos close the poverty gap rate.
