Tax hikes on energy will hurt the economy and America’s competitiveness

Bernard L. Weinstein, Tower Center Associate, published an op-ed about his thoughts on raising taxes on the oil and gas industries. He argues that with the energy sector in recovery mode following the huge losses during the pandemic, increasing taxes would not help the economy. As the world’s number one oil- and natural gas-producing country, placing additional tax burdens could impede America’s energy independence and could result in higher energy costs for businesses and households.
