Anchor Your Savings in Kirkland, the Harbor of Opportunity, 1912. In 1910, Burke & Farrar, a Seattle real estate company, bought up the vacant lots in Kirkland, Washington, and began to promote the area for homes and businesses. This brochure is a part of their 1912 promotion campaign.

Annette Harvey Diary, 1906-1910. Annette Harvey was the daughter of William Hope Harvey, aka “Coin” Harvey, a well-known businessman, politician, author and founder of the resort of Monte Ne and the Ozark Association. Annette’s diary describes visits, housework, dances, parties, a train trip to New York, weather, church services and socials over a 5 year period.
United States Army 1st Cavalry records, 1829-1840. This military letterbook contains general orders and court martial records for United States Army Cavalry Dragoons for the period 1833-1838 at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas and Camp Jackson, Missouri. Included are signatures of Jefferson Davis, Lieutenant Colonel Stephen Kearny, and Colonel Henry Dodge.

[Lucy Pier Stevens’ Request for Passage], April 17, 1865. This handwritten letter is a request from Lucy Pier Stevens for passage on the first available “flag of truce” boat out of Galveston, Texas, so she can return home after four years’ wait in Texas with relatives during the Civil War.
