“My grandmother moved from Korea to attend SMU in the ’50s. Her story is mine too”

Dallas Morning News reporter Elizabeth Myong visited the SMU archives earlier this year to learn more about her grandmother’s experience as a Korean student at SMU in the 1950s. Myong filmed her visit to the DeGolyer reading room and her tour of the SMU archives, led by University Archivist Joan Gosnell, which you can view below. Click here to read the article.

Rock Hudson: All That Heaven Allowed

The Ronald L. Davis Oral History collection is featured in the new HBO documentary, Rock Hudson: All that Heaven Allowed. The documentary examines the life and legacy of the golden age movie star. The film features multiple interviews that Ron Davis conducted with Hudson and other Hollywood figures. Davis was a Professor of History at SMU who recorded more than 500 interviews during the 1970s and 1980s with figures from film, radio, vaudeville, theater, and music. While the transcripts of interviews had been accessible to researchers, this film marks the first time that the audio was made available. Click here to learn more about the collection.
