In September 2018, SMU Libraries uploaded 198 items into SMU Libraries Digital Collections.
Highlights include:
14 videos, 2018, to the SMU Oral History and Digital Humanities Class Projects collection. These videos, which were conducted by SMU students taking Dr. Jill Kelly’s “Doing Oral History” class, feature SMU alumni discussing the experiences of black students at SMU. The alumni interviewed are: Anga Sanders, Charles Howard, Gene Pouncy, Joe Pouncy, Ira Terrell, Jennifer “JJ” Jones, the Reverend Doctor Jeremiah Booker, Jerry LeVias, Mike Hazel, Rufus Cormier, Yvonne Clement Cormier, and the Reverend Doctor Zan Wesley Holmes.
80 photographic prints (and two album covers), ca. 1890, to the Jack and Beverly Wilgus History of Photography Collection. This album features images taken in France, Switzerland, and Italy, and showcases a number of natural and historic landmarks, art, and cathedrals. Among the images are photographs of the French and Swiss Alps and attractions in Florence, Milan, Rome, and Verona. Noteworthy locations include the Leaning Tower of Pisa and the Colosseum in Rome.
43 negatives by Richard Steinheimer, taken between 1949 and 1972, were added to the Richard Steinheimer Photograph collection. These images include views from Steinheimer’s trips to Colorado, Utah, and Vancouver, as well as images from several train yards and depots in California and Arizona. One breathtaking image, taken in Utah in 1951, showcases what Steinheimer himself referred to as one of “the finest steam shots of my life.”
43 items, 1947-1982, to the Stanley Marcus Papers. Among these are 4 items relating to the 1959 South American Fortnight at Neiman Marcus, including two photographs of “Llinda Llee,” a llama brought in for the festivities, with Mr. Marcus. Also included are postcards advertising several different Fortnight events, and a number of photographs of President Lyndon B. Johnson inscribed with personal notes to Stanley Marcus.
16 letters, written in March and April 1943, to the John C. Cox World War II Papers. These letters, written by John C. Cox Jr to his parents during his time at boot camp, detail his experiences with in the military, including learning new skills and how he entertained himself away from home.

The Pietists historical materials illustrate the theological and geographic diversity of the Pietist movement during its period of greatest influence, from the late seventeenth century until the early nineteenth century. On view now in The Elizabeth Perkins Prothro Galleries.
The Uniting Conference of 1968 and the Birth of The United Methodist Church commemorates the fiftieth anniversary of the founding of The United Methodist Church. On view now in the Entry Hall through December 7, 2018.
