This Geman railroad portfolio from 1892, held by SMU’s DeGolyer Library, consists of 32 plates documenting the railroad and military operations along the route from the German towns of Uelzen to Celle.
This was a Feldbahn narrow gauge military railway (built by specialists) from Uelzen to Celle via Hermannsburg, built to conduct maneuvers (Uebung) and involving troops from various parts of Germany, notably Prussia, Saxonia and Bavaria. The photos show railroad depots, bridges, locomotives, trains, military encampments, and landscapes.
