Throughout the year, SCIE receives service opportunities from our community partners across Dallas. This page will be updated bi-weekly with new service opportunities. Community partners, if you would like to submit a service opportunity, please do so here.

Housing Forward
January 25th
: We need volunteers on January 25th to engage with our unhoused neighbors during the 2024 Point-in-Time (PIT) count. Volunteers are truly making a difference by participating in the count and contributing to our efforts to address homelessness in our community. Sign up here.

Dallas Area Rape Crisis Center
Opportunity: To work directly with survivors of sexual violence and their loved ones; opportunities include assisting with DARCC’s 24/7 Crisis Hotline, providing hospital accompaniment, and accompanying survivors to legal proceedings and/or accompanying survivors when making a report to law enforcement.

Requirements: Volunteers must pass a background check and complete a 40-hour Office of the Attorney General (OAG) mandated volunteer advocate training. Currently, the training is virtual. Winter 2024 Volunteer Training is scheduled from February 19th – March 7th. Please sign up here.


One Night for Dallas

One night to celebrate those who serve the city of Dallas.

Hosted by the Office of Social Change and Intercultural Engagement and Engage Dallas.

In partnership with the Office of Social Change and Intercultural Engagement and Engage Dallas, the third annual One Night for Dallas celebrates the students, staff, faculty, and community partners who dedicate time to serving the Dallas community.

We are excited to announce that nominations for awards are open! We have created awards to recognize those who have gone above and beyond to serve Dallas. We invite you to submit a nomination for one or more of the award categories!

Categories include:

  • Outstanding Community Partner
  • Outstanding Student Leader
  • Outstanding Student Director
  • Do Good for Dallas Award
  • Outstanding Faculty/Staff Award

Service happens all year round. As you meet students and other partners, we invite you to continue to submit nominations throughout the 2023 – 2024 academic year.
