Special Screening at Travis Park UMC

The Travis Park United Methodist Church Reconciling Ministries Committee will show the important documentary, “An Act of Love,” on April 24 from 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm in the Sanctuary at Travis Park UMC. The gripping documentary is about the Pennsylvania Methodist Minister, Rev. Frank Schaefer. Schaefer was defrocked in 2013 for violating church law when he officiated his son’s same-sex wedding. The Methodist Church is sharply divided on the issue of same-sex marriage. The Reconciling Ministries Committee sees this film as a strategic and important tool to elevate the conversation about LGBTQ rights.
