Restorative Farms, a program started by CCPA professor Owen Lynch, is one of three national finalists for the 2020 Foodscape Innovation Consumer Choice Award presented by the American Heart Association.
The award recognizes innovative leaders across the foodscape who are building a food system that significantly improves health while also addressing issues of sustainability – the system’s impact on people and planet. Restorative Farms is a community action research project to create a sustainable agri-system in the food and job desert of South Dallas/Fair Park. Restorative Farms provides vocational training and jobs, garden boxes, seedlings, soil, and the knowledge and capacity to grow fresh vegetables in underserved communities.
