C3-in-Japan is a four-week summer abroad program run by the Center of Creative Computation that integrates data visualization, creative coding and interactive media with principles from complexity, chaos and emergence.
Creative Computation student Emely Villeda-Principe (’17) sends a photo dispatch from the current trip.
Kyle Hobratschk (B.F.A. Art, ’11) loves older buildings with character.
As an under-graduate he began doing drawings and watercolors of homes for the Park Cities Historic & Preservation Society, leading to commissions from real estate agents, homeowners and commercial developers.
Hobratschk was featured in a can’t-miss interactive feature in the Dallas Morning News entitled Corsicana diaries.
Hobratschk on working in Corsicana, via our 2013 MPrint story: “It’s shown me the importance of building community,” he says. “Growing up, I thought of an artist as someone alone in a studio. You don’t imagine working WITH other people until you realize that a lot of things you want to do aren’t possible alone. I couldn’t do Corsicana on my own.”

It’s been nothing less than a busy year at SMU’s Meadows School of the Arts.
As we continue on to summer and reflect on the inspiring events of 2015-2016—which included the announcement of the Meadows Prize, ground-breaking choreography from the division of Dance, a visit from the iconic actress Isabella Rossellini, a stunning production of The Magic Flute, Meadows at the Winspear and much, much more—we present a look at photos we love from the year at SMU Meadows School of the Arts. The indefatigable photographer Kim Leeson (all photos by Kim Leeson unless noted) was on hand for many Meadows events. Here are just some of our favorites:
