It was a day for stories to fuse. “Each one of these graduates has a different story. And today these stories come together,”Senior Associate Dean Kevin Hofeditz at the 2015 Spring Diploma Presentation. After the Brazen Brass 5 performed a majestic prelude in the Caruth Auditorium, and diplomas were passed to the class of 2015, SMU Meadows Theatre alum Katie Featherston (B.F.A. Meet Katie Featherston
Born and raised in Texas, Katie Featherston began performing in school at a young age and later received her BFA in Acting from the Meadows School’s Division of Theatre in 2005.
After college, Katie headed to Los Angeles and found her big break when she was cast as a main character in the inventive, low-budget, supernatural thriller “Paranormal Activity,” which met with huge buzz upon its 2009 release. The significant box-office returns on the movie led to a steady stream of sequels, all featuring Katie in some capacity.
The franchise’s mastermind, Oren Peli, also brought her aboard on episodes of his mysterious television series, “The River” (ABC, 2012). Katie is currently developing an indie dramedy entitled SOME GIRLS, in which she is both starring and co-directing.
