Applications Open for 2025-2026 District Leadership Fellows

Applications are open for the 20252026cohort of the District Leadership Fellows, a hybrid in-person and online strengths-based leadership development program run by theInstitute for Leadership Impactat Southern Methodist University. Emerging and established district leaders who are collaborative, motivated to create change, and who have a strong desire for personal leadership growth areinvited to apply. 

Across Texas and the surrounding states, school districts are undergoing unprecedented transition. New leadership teams are forming, superintendents and central office leaders are stepping into roles under intense pressure, and many are navigating strategic decisions in a time of funding constraints, high expectations, and uncertainty. 

SMU District Leadership Fellows program offers a focused, efficient, and supportive experience tailored to the unique challenges leaders face today.

  • Open to school district superintendents and other leaders from the district office. 
  • Program Fee: $1,950

  • In-person Fall Retreat at SMU 
  • Biweekly cohort meetings online – two hours

Spring 2026

  • Monthly Peer Group meetings online – one hour
