GeT Active: Guided Thinking and Physical Activity Study

What is the purpose of the study?

The purpose of the GeT Active study is to understand how brief audio-recordings that guide people through different thinking tasks influence regular physical activity.

Who is eligible to participate?

Any adult between the ages of 18-64 who is not currently meeting recommended guidelines for regular physical activity.

What is required?

The study involves 7 visits to our research lab at SMU. The first visit is 90-minutes long with all other visits lasting one hour. During the visit, you will be asked to complete some questionnaires and to complete a 30-minute brisk walking session on a treadmill. You will also be asked to wear an accelerometer on your hip each day you are in the study.

You will be compensated for each study visit and for each day you wear the accelerometer for at least 10 hours. You can earn up to $304 for participating.

What is needed to participate?

  • Smartphone with a current data plan.
  • Availability for weekly visits to SMU over a 6-week period.
