[7/16/25 at 4:50 p.m.] Earlier today, SMU Police arrested Ian James Smith, the 23-year-old unaffiliated individual named in the SMU Advisory issued on Monday, July 14. He was taken into custody in Dallas on a charge of making a false alarm or report.

[7/14/25 at 8:09 p.m.] SMU Advisory- SMU Police are looking for Ian James Smith, an unaffiliated individual with past arrests for harassment and stalking involving SMU students. He is currently being sought in connection with online threats made against the SMU campus.
