Dr. Elizabeth Ferris, ISIM Research Professor at Georgetown University and non-resident senior fellow in Foreign Policy at the Brookings Institution, spoke on how in September 2016, the UN General Assembly unanimously adopted the New York Declaration which outlined a process for the development of two new Global Compacts – one on refugees and one on safe, orderly and regular migration — for adoption in 2018.
