On April 27, we hosted an event featuring Samuel Garcia, Governor of Nuevo León, as part of his official visit to Dallas.
He spoke about trade, specifically on what his highway modernization program would mean for Nuevo León and Texas trade. His program consists of building and repairing three different highways that lead to the Colombia bridge crossing.
The trade between both states is over $5 billion. Our research shows that Mexican border states, including Nuevo León, are the main export destination for Texas. Our Center’s investment map also shows that a lot of the Mexican companies who have their American headquarters in Texas are originally from Nuevo León. These are some of the reasons why, as the Governor mentioned, it makes sense for both states to continue to strengthen ties, which was the main reason for his visit
