VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY _ Harrington Elementary School

My name is Doreen Mayrell.  I am a teacher, PTA member, and parent.  I am currently working on organizing a STEM Weather Expo for students in grade K-3 at Harrington ELementary School in Plano.

I was wondering if its possible to go through SMU for volunteers for community service hours to help run my event.  I would need about 10 volunteers.  It will be hosted at Harrington Elementary School on September 28th during the school day from 7:45am-12pm.

There will be stations setup in the gym with all materials and instructions, and students will come in small groups (about 5-10 students) and rotate among the groups every 10 minutes.  The stations each have a STEM activity related to weather.  Stations are geared towards topic in K-3 weather, and are rather simple tasks and activities to get students excited about science and teach them some of the main concepts of weather.

I can offer community service hours to count towards requirements, and its also a great way to make contacts for future job openings, especially for any aspiring teachers.

Let me know if this is a possibility.  If so, please have interested student fill out the following form:
