While the IRB is optimistic about the recent reduction in COVID-19 cases, requests to begin or resume in-person research interactions with human subjects must still be reviewed by the IRB on a case-by-case basis. However, the IRB recently eliminated the requirement to complete two COVID-19 training courses (COVID-19: Back to Campus and Remote Contact Tracing) in the CITI system in order to conduct in-person research. This change only applies to the COVID-19 training courses; standard Human Subjects Research training is still required for all key personnel on IRB protocols.
