“Maintenance status update” Phishing

Clues that it is a phishing message:

    • The sender is not from an OIT address.
    • The link is to an external account.
    • What looks like the text is a large image. OIT will never send a text email as an image.

This message shows the phishers’ ability to adapt to changing conditions. The email includes the new 2021 SMU logo and even refers to the correct name of the IT Help Desk.
