Craig Owens, a Los Angeles-based photographer and historian, has released Haunted by History, Vol. 1. The book examines decades of paranormal folklore related to eight historic hotels in Southern California and uncovers the truth behind the stories through historical documents and photographs.

The eight properties featured in the book are the Alexandria Hotel, Los Angeles; Banning House Lodge, Catalina Island; Glen Tavern Inn, Santa Paula; Hotel del Coronado, Coronado; Julian Gold Rush Hotel, Julian; Mission Inn and Spa, Riverside; and Pierpont Inn and Victorian Rose Bed & Breakfast, Ventura.

“Craig Owens has combined mystery, history and controversy into a well-rounded book that helps the reader bring ghost stories to life,” said Craig W. Held, a historian in Santa Paula, California.
