SMU Scientist Finds Earth’s Moon Experienced A ‘True Polar Wander’

SMU planetary scientist Matthew Siegler and colleagues have made a rare discovery — the Earth’s moon shifted at least six degrees from its original axis, likely over the course of 1 billion years. Scientists call the rare occasion when a planet’s mass shifts, causing a relocation on its axis, a “true polar wander.”
