‘Rainstorm Led To Brainstorm’ For SMU Alum Tyler Nelson ’14

Tyler Nelson ’14 began working on the design for an inflatable bike rack while a rain-drenched geology major at SMU. During the annual Innovation Competition conducted by the Lyle School of Engineering, the young entrepreneur’s prototype garnered the attention of fellow Mustang Joel Fontenot, a managing partner for Trailblazer Capital, a Dallas-based venture capital firm. The Dallas Morning News profiles Nelson, whose TrunkMonkey will begin shipping this month.
