In January 2021, SMU Libraries uploaded 242 items into SMU Libraries Digital Collections. Highlights include:
140 postcards, ca. 1900-1975, from the John Miller Morris Real Photographic Postcards and Photographs of Texas collection. This project was made possible by a grant from the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services and Texas State Library and Archives Commission (Grant Number TXT-21010). (2021). These postcards show images from across Texas and include views of courthouses, oil fields, farms, and more. Also featured are a number of group portraits, including a portrait of the 1911 Haskell High School girls’ basketball team.
5 interviews from the Southern Methodist University Oral History Interviews and Digital Humanities Student Projects collection. These interviews, with Kevin Chen, Deionna Hill, Taylor Souryachak, Pooja Tewari, and Kennedy Woodard are part of the Voices of SMU project.
8 photographs, ca. 1910-1929, from the Elmer and Diane Powell Collection on Mexico and the Mexican Revolution. Featured among these images are photographs taken during the Cristero Rebellion, including images of celebrations which took place at the end of the conflict. Also included is a portrait of General Bernardo Reyes and images of artillery being transported during the Mexican Revolution.
52 items, 1930s-1940s, from the Bywaters Special Collections – Texas Artists Archives collection. Highlights include pictures featuring agave (maguey) plants and several images of cattle in a corral.
37 course catalogs from the Southern Methodist University Course Catalogs collection. These catalogs contain general information and course descriptions from each of SMU’s programs of study for academic years 1931-1932, 1943-1944, 1971-1972, 1975-1976, and 1983-1984.
