As we kick off a new term, you may be eager to explore how AI is transforming academic research. Whether you’re just starting out or looking to deepen your knowledge, there are plenty of resources available to support your journey.
At SMU, we offer a range of AI resources, including library-created resources. For those new to the field, we recommend checking out our guide to Research with Generative AI and our Introduction to Generative AI Canvas tutorial. This module provides a comprehensive overview of Generative AI, its strengths and limitations, and an introduction to prompt engineering and ethical considerations. Faculty can import this tutorial and more into Canvas courses.
If you’d like to delve deeper into the technologies that power AI—like ChatGPT—or want to enhance your text and data analysis skills for research and teaching, consider joining the Constellate Skill-Build 2024, September 13 – December 6. Thanks to our SMU Libraries subscription, our community has access to these workshops, covering essential topics like Python programming, dataset building, and the foundational technologies behind AI, including Large Language Models (LLMs) and Automated Text Classification (ATC).
You can register for the full program, starting on September 13, or pick and choose classes that align with your interests on their Classes & Events page.
