Hear from Director Sandy Miller on the Business Library renovation in Cox

How is the construction going on the Cox Renovation and expansion?

Construction teams have been busy inspecting and touring the Cox buildings, and if you look outside near Fincher you will see sample brick color selections in place. The official groundbreaking ceremony is set for May 6th and the buildings are planned to be emptied out in May after graduation. The projected date for project completion, and move back in, is by the fall 2024 semester.

Where can students find business library info during renovations?

The Business Library, and SMU Libraries as a whole,  has a completely new website. We post important news, events and announcements on our home page near the bottom under the NEWS heading. Current updates will be posted here with important information for SMU students, faculty , staff and alumni.

Where will the Business Library be temporarily located until the renovation is complete?

The Business Library will be joining operations with the Hamon Arts Library beginning this summer. More details to come at a later date.

Rendering of new renovated Business LibraryHow will the business library be revamped?

The Business Library is going to have a beautiful new facility with arched ceiling architecture, comfortable seating for study spaces, and easy access to librarians for research assistance. In addition, we will have a Reading Room across from our main entrance as our new Quiet Area. The Kitt Investing & Trading Center will be completely new and larger with more seating capacity and the latest technology.

What do you hope this revamp will accomplish for the business library and Cox students?

We hope this new library will be a central location for librarians, students, faculty and staff to come together for research and collaboration on projects, assignments, and presentations. Located just off the main commons area, and near the new food court, we look forward to increased opportunities for networking and casual encounters to bring an even greater sense of community to the Cox family.
