About SCALE

The Scalability, Capacity, and Learning Engagement (SCALE) project is a five-year study of Fraction Face-Off (FFO) to determine the extent to which FFO improves fraction knowledge and math outcomes of students experiencing moderate mathematics difficulty. Funded by the U.S. Department of Education and in partnership with UT at Austin and Mizzou, RME is conducting randomized controlled trials in grades 4-8, using FFO as a small group math intervention.

🚨 LIMITED OPPORTUNITY: Join the SCALE Project for 2025-2026! 🚨

The SCALE Project is now accepting schools for the 2025-2026 school year to participate in a unique opportunity to strengthen student success in mathematics.

The Fraction Face-Off (FFO) intervention is a evidence based, 36-lesson targeted program designed to fill gaps in foundational fraction concepts and fraction arithmetic (addition and subtraction) for students experiencing mathematics difficulties. This intervention is ideal for:

  • Grade 5 Tier 2 students
  • Grades 6-8 Tier 3 students

With limited spots available for partner schools, we encourage you to act now to see if your school or district is a good fit for this exciting project!

SCALE Fractions is a research study of Fraction Face-Off (FF), a What Works Clearinghouse approved intervention program designed by Dr. Lynn Fuchs at Vanderbilt University, for small groups of students in Grades 4-8 who are experiencing math difficulty. FFO supplements TIER 1 core math instruction through intervention sessions during the normal school day.
