$2,000

Help an SMU sociology student apply classroom knowledge and meet community needs.

Description

According to the Urban Institute, Dallas has one of the highest levels of neighborhood inequality in the nation. A burgeoning cluster of courses in sociology familiarizes students with nonprofit and community-based organizations, their organizational dynamics, and their strategies for engaging community needs in areas including homelessness, domestic violence, and educational and social services in lower-income communities.

Your support will place an SMU student in a guided internship in a local nonprofit – enabling them to put their classroom knowledge to work in partnership with local agencies, and helping them develop their career pathway in a growing field.

Any and all contributions to fostering these partnerships will be highly appreciated!
