The SMU Cheer and Pom squads are full-time students dedicating their time, energy and athleticism to support Mustang Athletics. Like athletics, we are committed to enhancing the quality of life of our student-athletes by achieving athletic success at the highest levels of intercollegiate competition, while serving as a positive representative of the University. In preparing for nationals, we need the support of our strong SMU network. The squads compete against some of the best teams in the country and learn valuable lessons of teamwork, dedication, and perseverance along the way. SMU Cheer is looking to defend their title and SMU Pom is working to bring home the first title in many years!
SMU Pom is an opportunity to continue my dance education alongside people that I love. The nationals experience means the world to us, as a team and as individuals. We watch ourselves grow as a team, as a family, and as young adults. Nationals is our chance to prove ourselves as dancers.

Being a member of SMU Cheer is beyond rewarding. With this being my third year on the squad, I am lucky enough to have travel to NCA College Nationals and compete for the last two years, finishing with a National Championship win in 2016. Full of hard work and dedication, our road to nationals is both intensely physically grueling and incredibly satisfying. Competing in Daytona has forced me to grow as both an athlete and as a teammate in numerous ways which will benefit me far beyond my years on this team, and for that I am very thankful.

The money raised through Mustangs Give Back efforts last year was AMAZING! With the generous donations of the incredible SMU network, we had the trip of a lifetime, building memories we will never forget. SMU Cheer proudly brought home the first ever NCA National Championship title to campus and SMU Pom brought home third place. This year we are looking to clean sweep Nationals and show everyone that SMU is the best! I cheered for this program for four years and have had the huge honor of being the SMU Spirit Coordinator for the last five years. My student athletes sacrifice so much to support efforts all across campus and the athletic teams, please help support them in their time in the spotlight!
