Description

SMU’s Multicultural Student Affairs CONNECT Program connects incoming first year and transfer students of color to the SMU community, both socially and academically. Through active recruitment and support, CONNECT enhances the collegiate experience of all participants. We create small mentor groups where upper-division students gain valuable leadership experience as mentors. Each group has one or two mentors and goes through a series of workshops and activities over three days before the incoming students leave for Mustang Corral. The CONNECT group particularly benefits from signature events with SMU Alumni, ongoing meetups and check-ins, and specialized workshops.

“I was able to meet several people in the SMU community, and this program made me feel more confident and connected going into the school year. I started with a strong support system, and my mental and emotional health has been really strong because of this.”
