Airport

Dallas has two airports:

1. Dallas-Forth Worth (DFW) is American Airlines’ HQ and has nonstop flights to most of the US airports and many international connections. It takes approximately 30-40 min to get from DFW to the SMU campus.
2. Love Field (DAL) is Southwest’s HQ and is very convenient, small, and close to campus. It takes approximately 10-15 min to get from DAL to the SMU campus.

Make sure you search flights to “Dallas (all airports)” and Southwest’s website (often ignored by major search engines) to see which flight and airport is more convenient for you.

How to get to and move around SMU

Southern Methodist University is located in University Park, less than 4 miles north of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas in Uptown Dallas. It is bound by U.S. Highway 75 (North Central Expressway) to the east, Hillcrest Avenue to the west, Mockingbird Lane to the south, and Daniel Avenue to the north. SMU serves also as the physical location of the George W. Bush Presidential Center.

Coming from DFW International Airport

Ground transportation: Taxi service is available on the lower level of Terminals A, B, C, D and E. App-based transportation network providers (Uber, Lyft, Wingz, Alto) are located at the upper-level curbside of each terminal. The trip to Uptown/Downtown Dallas or SMU, depending on traffic, should take about 30-35 minutes. Public transport: The Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) light rail service at the airport can be found in terminal A, lower level A10. If you arrived at Terminal B, C, D or E, ride the Terminal Link Shuttle to Terminal A and the DFW Airport Station. You can buy a $2.00/midday pass or a $6.00/day pass at the DFW Airport Station kiosks. The DART light rail (orange line) will take you to downtown Dallas (West End Station) in about 45 minutes, to the hotels in downtown Dallas in 50 minutes (Pearl/Arts District station) which is closest to the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, and to Southern Methodist University (SMU/Mockingbird Station) in about 55 minutes. Coming from Dallas Love Field Airport
