Jason Lewis, who earned a Master of Music in French horn performance in 2004 and is the band director at Plano Senior High, wanted his graduating players to have a proper sendoff even though their traditional end-of-year concert was cancelled due to the coronavirus. He and his two associate directors, percussionist Michael Hernandez and saxophonist Mark DeHortogh, decided to visit every graduating senior from the band and serenade them with the school fight song. The trio traveled 168 miles over three days, in sun and rain, to visit their 85 senior band students and perform a short concert outside each one’s home.
