Reporting to: Associate Executive Director, Bruce Wood Dance Dallas
Schedule & compensation: Fifteen hours per week for ten weeks (Monday, June 1 through Friday, August 7, 2026.) $3,000 stipend paid through SMU Accounts Payable department.
Format: Hybrid. Work will take place both virtually and in person at Bruce Wood Dance Gallery studios in Dallas’ Design District (101–103 Howell Street Dallas, Texas, 75207.) In addition, dance production work will carried out at Moody Performance Hall and the Kalita Humphreys Theater. BWDD WOOD | WORKS Summer Dance Intensives are held at the Bruce Wood Dance Gallery studios. Intern will be expected to travel to other locations in Dallas if the company makes appearances at other venues. Intern will be responsible for securing their own transportation to all work locations.
Preferred majors: Majors in Advertising, Dance, Corporate Communication and Public Affairs, Journalism, and/or Public Relations and Strategic Communication are preferred candidates.

Position overview: The Programming Support Intern will work virtually and in-person assisting with both programming and
marketing initiatives at Bruce Wood Dance Dallas. This role will support promotional efforts for our busy June–July 2026 season of performances and community events, contribute to donor and audience outreach, and assist with planning for the 2026–27 season. The intern will gain hands-on experience with our CRM, NeonOne, by coordinating group ticket sales, providing front-of-house support as needed, and participating in weekly marketing meetings with *TRACE Element. Additional responsibilities may include preparing marketing materials—such as the initial phase of a new press kit, maintaining databases, and helping track engagement across email and social platforms.
This will be an unique, immersive experience with a mid-sized non-profit dance organization. The intern will collaborate with multiple team members, including the organization’s Executive Director, Associate Executive Director, Finance and Development Manager, Operations Manager, Arts Management Consultant, Administrative Assistant, and members of our marketing team, *Trace Element. We aim to offer an immersive, comprehensive, and rewarding internship experience within a supportive and collegial environment.
Job description: Intern will collaborate with BWDD team members on projects such as season marketing, donor outreach, ticket sales, production preparation and implementation (including logistics,
on-site setup, and event support), and editorial assistance for grants and other internal documents. This comprehensive experience offers meaningful opportunities to gain deeper insight into the operations
and programming of a midsize nonprofit dance organization.
Responsibilities will vary, and may include:
Providing logistical, onsite, and front of house support for summer programming, including:
- June 12-14 production of Ignite at Moody Performance Hall
- June 20-21 production of Together at Kalita Humphreys Theater (in collaboration with Uptown Players)
- Four weeks of BWDD’s WOOD | WORKS: June 22-26, July 6-10, July 13-17, and a mini-intensive: August 3-7 summer dance intensives held at Bruce Wood Dance Gallery studios; and
- additional BWDD community or festival appearances, if necessary.
Other duties:
- Coordinating group ticket sales to corporate, church, and school groups using BWDD’s CRM and ticketing platforms.
- Supporting programming and marketing initiatives for BWDD, including the 2026-2027 marketing plan and promotional efforts Fall productions.
- Assisting with donor and audience outreach, including email communications, targeted engagement efforts, preparation of BWDD’s annual impact report, and post-performance audience surveys.
- Reviewing and supporting the submission of Fall 2026 grant applications and grant reports.
- Reviewing and helping to prepare dancer contracts for the 2026-2027 season.
- Assisting in developing marketing materials.
- Maintaining and updating internal databases, RSVP lists, and patron contact records.
- Tracking engagement across email, website, and social platforms and compiling insights for the
marketing team.
Preferred skills: The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong writing and editorial abilities, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and solid problem-solving capabilities. A high level of organization is essential, as this internship requires flexibility and the ability to collaborate on multiple projects simultaneously. Working with a performing arts company requires flexibility and the ability to manage last-minute adjustments with patience and collegiality.
Other notes: Intern will be expected to use a personal laptop. Intern will be responsible for securing their own transportation to all work locations within Dallas.
