On Wednesday, September 30, SMU Meadows Ignite Arts Dallas initiative is partnering with Dallas Faces Race, the Embrey Human Rights Program, and the Trans.Lation project to screen A Snake Gives Birth to a Snake in Dallas. It’s a free screening. Heres a little background:
Based on the tour of the South African theatre production Truth in Translation to Rwanda, Northern Ireland and the former Yugoslavia, the film follows the work of international theatre ensemble Global Arts Corps and features original songs by jazz legend Hugh Masekela. As the touring production ignites dialogue among various international communities with the raw memories of atrocity, the ensemble is forced to confront their own homeland’s complicated and violent past, while questioning their capacity for healing and forgiveness. Co-presented with Dallas Faces Race, the Embrey Human Rights Program and the Trans.Lation project.
The trailer’s below. More details on the event on the SMU Meadows calendar.
