On January 13, OIT will upload photos for all SMU employees to make them visible in Skype for Business as part of the upcoming project to deploy a new University phone system. The source for these employee photos will be the same photos that are used on SMU ID cards printed by the ID Card Services office. This means as an SMU employee, your SMU ID card photo will become visible in Skype for Business as well as in certain other Microsoft applications such as Outlook and SharePoint.

In preparation for the upcoming deployment of the new phone system based upon Skype for Business, OIT will soon be uploading photos of all employees from the ID Card Services office into the new system. Now in our fourth month since the kickoff of the phone replacement project, we wanted to provide the university community an update on the progress. The current phone system at both Dallas and Plano campus locations has been active since the early 90’s. The phone replacement project will deliver new network-based phones to all SMU faculty and staff while modernizing aging campus infrastructure in support of the new phones and calling features.
