The IT Help Desk: Your Tech Support First Responders

Help IconThe IT Help Desk provides support to the entire campus community. In addition to supporting current faculty, staff, and students, the Help Desk provides limited assistance to retirees, parents and prospective students.  Many of the Help Desk staff are HDI certified and all are committed to providing exceptional service.

The IT Help Desk is available to answer questions regarding any of the services that IT provides and any of the software applications that we support. They are able to assist with network configurations, software troubleshooting and training, email support and configuration, and more. SMU’s University Operators: More than a friendly voice.

It’s amazing to see how much information new and returning students have to sort through in such a short time. Do you have health insurance? Are you interested in studying abroad? Mom & Dad, have you heard about SMU’s Mothers’ and Dads’ Clubs? Do you have your computer and know what type of software your school requires?

Dr. Michael H. Hites to lead OIT into Second Century

Dr. Michael H. HitesThis summer, Dr. Michael H. Hites, an executive with 17 years of experience leading large-scale computing operations for university-based research and innovation, joined OIT as SMU’s Chief Information Officer. Hites, Ph.D., an executive with 17 years of experience leading large-scale computing operations for university-based research and innovation, has been named Chief Information Officer at Southern Methodist University. A Farewell to Our CIO Joe Gargiulo

As you may know, the University’s CIO Joe Gargiulo has announced his retirement. Joe has served SMU since 1998 in various capacities. He joined the team 19 years ago managing the Y2K efforts and then overseeing the PeopleSoft conversion. He was promoted to the Executive Director of Administrative Computing in 2005 and then later named CIO in 2008.
