Code42 CrashPlan Backups Move to New Location

Crashplan Pro Desktop IconBeginning May 11, 2022, CrashPlan enterprise backups of University-owned devices will be migrated to a new backup storage location. This change requires that the existing Code42 client be uninstalled and a new client installed (version 8.8.4). This change should happen silently in the background, but unfortunately, it will require an entirely new backup to be created from your computer. eduroam Provides Secure Wi-Fi When Roaming

The eduroam network, short for education roaming, is available here on the SMU campus and now at over 1,000 other colleges, universities, and research facilities in the US. Starting in 2009, this encrypted Wi-Fi network was designed for research and education institutions to allow students, employees, and guests to use their institution’s ID and password to connect securely and seamlessly to the Internet using the eduroam network while visiting other institutions. Mac Users: Don’t Upgrade to Monterey… Just Yet!


macOS MontereyApple recently announced that the latest update to its macOS, Monterey, is available to the public. While we know people are eager to update to the latest OS to take advantage of the new enhancements for key apps; including Safari, Messages, and Maps, as well as new privacy features, we recommend that users wait until the next “dot” OS update before upgrading University-owned Macs.
