Classroom and AV Support Team Enhances Events and Classrooms

The Office of Information Technology’s Classroom and AV Support Team is eager to serve the needs of our campus community. The individuals are trained and certified in designing and programming AV solutions for the classroom, as well as possess years of experience with live events. The team oversaw over 4,000 requests for AV support at events last school year and performed over 40 classroom updates in the summer alone, with another 28 to be completed this coming summer. The Desktop Support Team: Your Local IT Support

They are the ones that rush to your office when technology issue arise. They diagnose and resolve software/hardware related incidents and support various departmental applications. The Desktop Support team provides IT support for all students, faculty, and staff. They assist with both Windows/Mac platforms and any other IT related issues the campus community may encounter.

The IT Help Desk: Your Tech Support First Responders

Help IconThe IT Help Desk provides support to the entire campus community. In addition to supporting current faculty, staff, and students, the Help Desk provides limited assistance to retirees, parents and prospective students.  Many of the Help Desk staff are HDI certified and all are committed to providing exceptional service.

The IT Help Desk is available to answer questions regarding any of the services that IT provides and any of the software applications that we support. They are able to assist with network configurations, software troubleshooting and training, email support and configuration, and more. SMU’s University Operators: More than a friendly voice.

It’s amazing to see how much information new and returning students have to sort through in such a short time. Do you have health insurance? Are you interested in studying abroad? Mom & Dad, have you heard about SMU’s Mothers’ and Dads’ Clubs? Do you have your computer and know what type of software your school requires?

OIT Helps Physics Researchers

When some Physics researchers needed a few dedicated computers for running experiments, they reached out to OIT Customer Service Director Rachel Mulry to see if she could help. The requirements for the computers were minimal compared to current university standards but had to be stable enough to run their experiment and priced within their small budget. Within 24 hours, several laptops were found that could be donated to meet the needs of the ATLAS experiment. Continue reading OIT Helps Physics Researchers
