In the dynamic landscape of university benefits administration, behind-the-scenes heroes like Priyanka Nigam often go unnoticed, yet their contributions are pivotal in ensuring smooth transitions and efficient operations. A fitting example of this is the recent change of Health Savings Account vendors at SMU. BenefitWallet resigned as custodian over the HSA accounts and HealthEquity became the new vendor. As a result, Priyanka was entrusted with this project, and to work with others in the HR Benefits team in February to begin the transition, which was complete in May. Last month, Al Faber, President and CEO of the Foundation for the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, Inc., announced the 2024 recipients of the Baldrige Foundation’s Leadership Awards, which recognizes leaders who provide exceptionally outstanding service and/or support to their sector. 2023: A Year of Internet of Things Innovation and Collaboration

2023 has proven to be a pivotal year in the evolution of our Research Development and Internet of Things (IoT) services. With new equipment and new relationships forged across campus, Guillermo Vasquez and his IoT Lab have been hard at work to bring data points once thought ephemeral into the realm of data-driven research.
From the ballroom to the physics lab, ideas and resources have come together in the IoT Lab to implement the quickly growing Internet of Things ecosystem in all disciplines. A key aspect of this level of service is the deep collaboration Guillermo undertakes with researchers to truly understand their needs and develop solutions that can effectively and efficiently deliver results for world-changing research projects.
