Him - Her - TheyUsing someone’s correct personal pronouns is a way to respect them and create an inclusive environment. Many of our technology systems allow you to state these pronouns within your profile, making it easier for others to know how to address you properly. We recognized that the process of designating these pronouns varies from platform to platform. In an effort to create a more inclusive and supportive environment, we have outlined the procedure to update your pronouns for several of our IT services, including email, zoom, Linkedin Learning, and the Canvas LMS. Research and Data Science Services Launch NVIDIA DLI Workshops

NVIDIA Deep Learning InstituteOIT’s Research and Data Science Services Team, in coordination with NVIDIA and Center for Research Computing, is offering two new free NVIDIA DLI workshops to the SMU community. These all-day workshops will provide the foundations for using multiple GPUs on a single computer with Nvidia CUDA and how to speed up data engineering tasks using GPUs. In addition, those who successfully complete the workshop assessment will receive an NVIDIA DLI certificate.

Research and Data Science Services Offer More Free Workshops this Fall

Data ScienceThis fall term, OIT’s Research and Data Science Services Team, in coordination with the Center for Research Computing and the Data Science Institute, is offering more free workshops to the SMU community.

SMU’s ATSDs: Advancing Unique Technology Support for Instruction & Scholarship

ATSD Group PhotoAs we begin a new term, the Office of Information Technology (OIT) recently added new Academic Technology Service Directors, or ATSDs, to work as a liaison between faculty and OIT dedicated to each of SMU’s colleges and schools. This group of individuals ensures that the unique technology needs of academics and faculty in each school, specifically those required for instruction and scholarship, are well supported, integrated, and highly personalized.

Academic Technology Service Directors, while part of OIT, serve their communities by integrating into their schools. The ATSDs are strategically partnering with each area’s leadership while maintaining an “open door policy” for developing relationships with each faculty member.
