As of this morning, NetID is now required to sign in to SMU services. For most people at SMU, NetID resembles their email address and should be easy to remember, and replaces their eight-digit SMU ID number to authenticate to online services.
When accessing services, such as my.SMU and Canvas, users will be prompted to re-authenticate to SMU using their NetID. This will include updating their mobile devices to reconnect to campus Wi-Fi and email. If one stores login information in a browser or a password manager, we recommend updating those entries to reduce login issues.
If you have any questions or need assistance with your NetID, please contact the IT Help Desk at 214-768-HELP (4357). To assist with the transition to NetID, the IT Help Desk is open today and tomorrow, December 27, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. to answer any questions or troubleshoot issues resulting from the change. We will resume regular business hours after the holiday break, starting at 8 a.m. on January 2, 2025.
