New Email Encryption Service Expands Access

The Sensitivity button when writing an email in Outlook. With SMU email accounts now enjoying the benefits of an improved spam filtering system, a bonus feature includes a new email encryption service now available to more folks than ever! Email Encryption is now available to all benefits-eligible staff, faculty, and active students. Here’s more on how to use the system.

For those of you that may have used our previous encryption service, the way you encrypt messages won’t change much. Continue to add [smuencrypt] to the subject line of your messages to route them to be encrypted. There will also be a new Sensitivity button added to your Outlook and Webmail that will also allow you to encrypt messages. That’s all there is to it! Also, you are now able to send encrypted emails internally as well as to external addresses.
