New Student Grade Dashboard Provides Simple, Robust Insight for Administrators

my.SMU iconGrade averages aren’t just used towards graduation! School administrators use student GPAs for many reasons, including eligibility for scholarships, Greek life programs, etc. For years, looking up GPAs for individuals as well as specific groups required time-consuming navigation within PeopleSoft (my.SMU) or the creation of complex queries. OIT staff recently worked with Enrollment Services to create a new user-friendly dashboard that takes the GPA data from PeopleSoft and allows specific administrators to quickly and easily search for grade information.

OIT staffer Adam Pressler worked with administrators and others in the Data Services team to harness the intuitive power of Tableau software to develop this new dashboard, which makes sorting through students by multiple specific filter requirements quick and easy. For example, if an administrator needs to view GPAs for a specific major, fraternity/sorority house, student organization, or any other of many search filters, it can now be done all in one place without the need to create PeopleSoft queries. The new dashboard does all of the heavy lifting! The dashboard has already helped in reducing time accomplishing this originally tedious task. If you feel that this dashboard could also help your office in obtaining grade information quickly, contact the IT Help Desk to learn more and to work with our Data Services team.
