Canvas LMS Tips & Tricks

From Your ATSD: Final Exam Quick Tips

From Your ATSDIn this month’s From Your ATSD, we have some quick tips to help faculty when planning their Canvas LMS Quizzes, using Lockdown browser, and a reminder about Assignments in the Canvas LMS.

Canvas Quizzes: Available Time & Time Limits

Canvas LMS Quiz AvailabilityThe Available from/until times create a window in which students can take the exam. A Time Limit can be set to indicate the number of minutes students have to complete the exam. The available until time overrides minutes remaining on the time limit. Quizzes still in progress will be auto-submitted when this time is reached.

Canvas LMS Time Limits for QuizzesGuides for extended time with Classic Quizzes and New Quizzes.

Canvas Quizzes: Extra Attempts

Canvas LMS Quizzes Multiple AttemptsExtra Attempts can be given with Classic Quizzes. An extra attempt gives the student a blank exam to begin again. Both extra attempts and Reopen attempt are available with New Quizzes. Reopening an attempt allows the student to continue with their saved work. If the exam has a time limit, reopening will only allow the time remaining on the original limit.

Lockdown Browser & Proctoring

Lockdown Browser can be used with Canvas Quizzes to disable student computers from accessing outside resources. Lockdown Browser can be used in conjunction with Respondus Monitor (Classic Quizzes Guide, New Quizzes Guide) to record the student as they complete the exam or with Zoom (Guide) for live proctoring during the exam.

Canvas Assignments
