Improved Booking System Simplifies Advising Appointments

The old RoomRes system.

Years ago, a customized application called RoomRes was created to facilitate student advising appointments and reservations of several study spaces within the libraries. As the usage of RoomRes grew, the limitations of that solution became clear.

Last spring, a new easy-to-use web platform, booking.smu.edu, was introduced to improve advisor and student experiences. Advisors have more flexibility with scheduling, can require advance notice for bookings, and collect student data prior to their appointments. Students can navigate the system much more efficiently to select the best appointment time for them.
