We have all had it happen. It is minutes after the IT Help Desk has closed for the day and something happens with your computer – WiFi has stopped, you are having issues with your password, or you have some other puzzling question that you just want answered.   If only there was a way to easily find the answer yourself and take care of it. Well, now there is – The OIT Knowledge Base!

The IT Help Desk has moved much of their knowledge and wisdom from solving yours and other issues and made it available online. The OIT Knowledge Base is now available to the SMU community through wiki.smu.edu. The IT Help Desk team has been working hard for the past several months to create a user-friendly system with easy troubleshooting tips and how-tos. While we are always happy to take your call and assist, we know there are individuals who prefer to search for the solutions on their own.  Now that is possible! With over 480 support pages covering accounts, email, networking, passwords, and much more, you should be able to find the help you need.

To get started:

  1. Go to smu.edu/kbit.
You may need to log in to the wiki with your SMU ID and password.
  2. At the landing page, you can search or browse by topics by clicking tree button.
