T-Drive, U-Drive, and V-Drive take a Spring Break

U DriveStarting at 7 a.m. on March 11, 2018, the hardware and firmware for the T-Drive, U-Drive, and V-Drive along with Physics users home directories will be updated. During this update, the network drives will be unavailable. Also, Apps.SMU will be offline during the update.

To lessen the impact of the outage, the maintenance has been scheduled for the first Sunday of Spring Break. The work is expected to be completed by 11 a.m.

As a reminder, the U-Drive is available for personal file storage space available to all faculty and staff. The V-Drive is for departmental storage space but is not designed for cross-departmental storage or sharing. The T-Drive is designed for cross-departmental storage and sharing for various teams. These drives can only be accessed with SMU credentials and cannot be accessed by a guest. Our Box Enterprise Storage has replaced much of the functionality of the network drives by offering unlimited cloud storage and features the ability to be accessed through a web browser plus collaborate with others outside of the University. Box will not be impacted by this update.

If you have any questions or concerns about this update, please contact the IT Help Desk at 214-768-HELP or help@smu.edu.
