Carla McCanna is a junior at Southern Methodist University working toward a B.A. in Journalism with a minor in Corporate Communications. On campus, she is a member of ABS, and she recently completed an internship with The Dallas Morning News. At the Hunt Institute, Carla is the Undergraduate Journalist and will be managing the Hunt Institute Digest as part of her role.
Carla has a passion for writing and media, so she hopes to be in the digital media space doing content creation, writing and editing, or social media. Another of her goals is to work for a large publication or magazine as a journalist or editor. In her free time, Carla trains for equestrian competitions and enjoys spending time with friends and family.
On what drew her to the Institute, Carla said, “In my internship with The Dallas Morning News, I did a lot of work writing for their new DMN cause-marketing initiative, and I feel that the Hunt Institute shares similar values. The projects and content that are put out are both interesting, and I appreciate the effort to engage with and battle global challenges.”
