Radha Polley: Blog 3

Today was our last day of research—I’m writing this as I wrap up my work before the librarians ring the little bell that means “clean up”—and I cannot believe I just did a week of hands-on research. I found pieces of information that made me light up and feel like I had stumbled on something that was unique. I learned things that were not even on my radar back in Dallas, researching from my laptop. I feel as though I learned an extremely important lesson in terms of discipline. I truly surprised myself, because I was worried that I would not be able to sit in a library from 8:30 in the morning until 5 in the afternoon doing research, but in reality, that time flew by. This was true scholarship, meaning no one analyzed and paraphrased the material I have in my hands, it’s all me putting together a working paper based on conclusions I make.
