Share Your Program Ideas: A Message From The Associate Provost Ad Interim

SMU Global and Online (GO) is especially busy going into 2020. Our pace of work has increased significantly over the past 4 months. Today GO is on its way to launching two new online graduate degrees in fall 2021, plus four new non-credit certificates in 2020.

The Lyle School of Engineering’s online MS in Cybersecurity launches this month. The first two classes are CS 7339: Computer System Security and CS 7359: Software Security. Courses in the online MS in Cybersecurity provide students a high-quality learning experience, built around a standardized, intuitive layout. Each course emphasizes consistent and meaningful instructor-student interaction, and includes diverse multimedia accessible to all learners.

SMU GO also has eight online graduate programs under review for development, and is working to launch online non-credit certificate programs in at least four new areas this year.  Data visualization and cybersecurity certificates are currently in development with start-dates set for fall 2020, while the governance approval process is currently underway for three certificate programs. Two additional certificates are also being prepared for governance approval later this spring.

Whether online graduate degrees with our academic partners across campus, or independent non-credit certificates, at SMU GO we are always excited to learn about new program ideas. Let us know if you have an idea for a new Continuing Education (CE) program at SMU. Fill out our Program Idea Form or go to our CE Program Development page to learn more.
